THE JOB\r\n\r\nThe Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Accounting and Academic Officer of the University, ex-officio member of Council and Chairman of the Senate and Congregation. QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POST  \r\n\r\nAn applicant for the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University must possess the following qualities and qualifications:\r\ni)\tBe a university lecturer of the rank of Professor in any field of health sciences with a minimum cognate experience of ten (10) years in teaching, research, community, and administrations. \r\nii)\tBe a person of high academic standing and reputation in his/her respective discipline with track record of academic and administrative leadership.\r\niii)\tMust be familiar and conversant with developmental, academic and other complex managerial problems of a specialised health sciences university;\r\niv)\tHave extensive and deep experience in all facets of university administration;\r\nv)\tHave been a Head of Academic Department or Dean of Faculty or Provost, College of Medical Sciences or Deputy Vice-Chancellor or member of Governing Council of a University;\r\nvi)\tPossess Medical Fellowship or PhD degree in a relevant field, preferably in a health sciences discipline;\r\nvii)\tProvide evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students especially at the Medical Fellowship or PhD level;\r\nviii)\tProvide in not more than one thousand (1000) words, his/her vision for the University;\r\nix)\tBe a person who commands respect nationally and internationally, especially in academic circles;\r\nx)\tBe an individual who, judging from his/her track record, should command respect and loyalty of members of staff and students of the University;\r\nxi)\tBe morally sound and of unimpeachable character, probity and integrity;\r\nxii)\tBe a person who is physically and mentally fit, and in a state of good health;\r\nxiii)\tBe not more than 65 years old at the time of assumption of office.\r\n\r\n4. DURATION OF APPOINTMENT\r\n\r\nThe Vice Chancellor shall hold the office for a single term of five (5) years.\r\n\r\n5.
